Our Experience with the Nordpeis ME

The Nordpeis ME may be one of the most spectacular-looking stoves on the market, but before you pull the trigger on it you should be aware that installation is more complicated than most stoves. The ME hangs from the ceiling, so it has to be fully supported by the rafters — which almost always means modifying them. Nordpeis supply a special bracket that then gets installed into the modified rafters. Allow for extra installation cost when you’re planning a ME.

The Nordpeis ME is a spectacular stove, but as any high-end car needs an expert mechanic, the ME demands a stove expert. We’ve been called out to repair more poorly fitted Nordpeis MEs than any other high-end stove — usually the rafter support wasn’t installed properly, or the correct care wasn’t taken assessing chimney length and draw. It’s a stove that punishes a rushed and inexperienced install.

If you’ve a ME that isn’t running right, we take on remedial work on other people’s installations.

Ceiling mounted
The Me Ceiling is our first ceiling-mounted stove and hangs like a piece of jewellery from the ceiling.
Clean burning

Air flushing
Fresh air is let in through a channel in the upper edge of the glass, Therefore flowing evenly down the glass in the hot combustion chamber. The clean air prevents the flue gases from making contact with and sooting up the glass. It also helps to control the intensity of the fire.
Fresh air supply
The Nordpeis ME is equipped with a connection pipe that the installer can connect to an external air supply. However modern houses with minimal natural ventilation require an external air supply to ensure that the fireplace burns optimally. Contact us for more info at Nulty Providers.

Since Nordpeis ME Wood burning stoves meet clean air legislation and building regulations. New EcoDesign criteria, which came into force in January 2022, require all newly designed appliances to be cleaner and more efficient. Look for stoves offering at least 75% efficiency 75% of the heat goes directly into heating a room), although the latest designs are up to 90% energy efficient. Note that open fires only offer 15-20% efficiency.
