Why a Hybrid Makes Sense

Wood burning and pellet stoves each solve a different problem, and hybrids solve both.

A wood burner gives you the fire — the flame, the crackle, the reason most people want a stove in the first place. But it needs lighting, feeding and attention.

A pellet stove gives you the convenience — thermostat and timer control, a hopper that runs for hours, and a warm room before you get home. But it’s a more mechanical, controlled kind of heat.

A hybrid lets you have it both ways. Pellets through the week when you’re working and want the house warm without thinking about it. Logs at the weekend when you want to sit in front of a proper fire.

What to Know Before You Buy

Hybrids need an electrical supply for the pellet feed and controls, and a dedicated flue system rather than a standard chimney. You’ll also want dry storage for both fuels.

They’re a more sophisticated appliance than a straightforward wood burner, so correct installation and commissioning matters more, not less. We survey the room, specify the flue, install the appliance and set it up properly.

Fuel Supply

We also supply both fuels — kiln dried logs under 20% moisture and Balcas Brites wood pellets — delivered locally or collected from our yard at Cooperhill.

That matters more with a hybrid than any other stove. Wet logs tar the flue, and inconsistent pellets clog the auger. Buying the appliance and the fuel from the same people means somebody is actually accountable for how the whole thing runs.
