Our Experience With the Gazco Reflex 105 Gas Fire

The Reflex 105 is the bigger brother of the famous Gazco 75T, designed to fill the entire opening of a stone mantelpiece with little room to spare. That means it comes from a spectacular class of fires — and the 105 is large enough to have real presence in a room.

We’ve fitted plenty of these, and it’s certainly eye-catching. When people walk into a room with a Reflex fitted, they know straight away it has to be one of the best fires on the market.

The glass front is made by the world-renowned Schott Robax. We’ve often had customers try to pick a log out of the fire without realising the glass was there at all — that’s how invisible it is in person.

The whole fire is designed to give you the feeling of a large open fire in the room, without the sense of anything between you and it. You get the open fire, with all the convenience, cleanliness and efficiency of what some would argue is Gazco’s best gas fire to date.

Installation

Installation is straightforward in principle. You need a registered gas installer to commission and connect it to either LPG or natural gas depending on what you’re on, and we’d recommend lining the chimney from top to bottom with a stainless steel liner.

After that, it comes down to whether you want the fire housed within a traditional fireplace, or inserted into the wall with or without a frame. Installations like that can be more involved and need a good deal of care and expertise — whether that’s removing a lintel or building a heat-resistant chimney rest.

With both the Harmony10 control system and Wifi control, you can ignite and extinguish the Reflex 105 gas fire, control the flame height, program the fire either thermostatically or to a daily schedule and also adjust the brightness of the Emberlight LED fuel bed.
